Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word that translates as spiritual energy. Reiki is also known as “Universal Life Energy”… the energy of the universe. This is the life energy that flows through every living organism. Reiki therapy treats the whole person; physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Reiki is a gentle therapy for stress reduction and relaxation to bring you to a state of balance. When you are relaxed and calm, your body is in a better place to promote your own natural healing. Reiki therapy is spiritual in nature. It is not a religion, and is not affiliated with any religious group. Although Japanese in origin, Reiki therapy is practiced the world over.
What to Expect During Your Reiki Session?
Your Reiki session may take place on a massage table, recliner, chair, or bed. Treatment can be given in a spa like setting, hospital, nursing home, your home, hospice, or while you are receiving your chemotherapy or medical treatment. Many people include Reiki therapy for wellness. You remain fully clothed, except for shoes. Reiki therapy is not a massage. The Reiki practitioner will hold their hands just above, or touching your body; and follows a series of hand positions, from your head to your feet. During your session, you may feel a warm sensation or nothing at all. You may feel relaxed and peaceful during and after your Reiki session.

Since April 2015, Diane has volunteered as a Reiki Practitioner at Mary’s Place by the Sea, Ocean Grove, NJ. She founded The Reiki Program at Monmouth Medical Center – RWJBarnabas Health, Long Branch, NJ. Diane began the process of establishing The Reiki Program in August 2015. The official start date was March 9, 2016, when patients received the first Reiki sessions. She is The Reiki Program Coordinator, and volunteers at Monmouth Medical Center – RWJBarnabas Health, Long Branch, NJ providing Reiki therapy to patients as they receive chemotherapy. Diane has provided Reiki therapy at various Hospital sponsored events, including Ladies Night Out and the Cancer Survivor Luncheon. She also provides Reiki therapy to clients in their homes and patients in Hospice. Diane has given countless Reiki sessions to patients, survivors and caregivers.
